We should be picked up at our Hostel in Chiang Mai at 10.00, but since the car was broken we started at 12.00 pm with a two hour delay. First we were brought with a pick-up to the bus station in Chiang Mai, where we had to switch to a Minivan. It took us about 3 hours to get from Chiang Mai to Pai. To mention are the last two hours, which were just curves going up and down the hills. But we made it all to Pai without any stop.
So we wanted to reward ourselves and went to Café de Pai and dank a fruit shake. We should not be there for the last time. The first two nights we stayed in a hotel, about 15min scooter-drive out of Pai city. It was a really nice stay, with a pool and our own bungalow. We arrived at the Quinlins and out of a sudden a dog, a size of a calf, ran towards us. It was the dog, called Blue, of the owner Karin. To end the day we bought some vegetables and made our own barbecue. On the next the we wanted to be active and a Canadian couple from Quinlins told us they did a fantastic hike to a waterfall yesterday. So we decided that’s the plan for the day. Unfortunately we did not have the name of the waterfall nor a map with us, just the description of the Canadian guy. So we went in the backland of Pai and stopped as we could not go further as the river crossed. That was where the adventure began. We still did not know if this was the right way to the waterfall, since there were no sings at all and if there were sings, they were written in Thai. Nevertheless we went on and crossed the river at least 10 times until we arrived at the Waterfall. The waterfall was a disappointment. The river was just 2 meters wide and the waterfall 3 meters high and the area full of bees. So we did not rest there at all and went straight back to our scooters. We really loved doing our own barbecue, so we did it again. The next day we moved to a hotel located in Pai (Heart of Pai) and we went on the night-market. The market was just great! So many local people selling their handmade jewellery, clothes or food! We just enjoyed it and we really loved to stay there longer. But our next stop was Luang Prabang in Laos.
